Upon completion of this class the students will be able to throw and catch a ball
with proper technique and with a better understanding of the use of strategy in
a game setting.
Format and Procedures:
To begin class we will start with a warm-up by doing some simple stretches and exercises to get the students ready
to go for the activity. After the
warm-up we will split up the students into two teams for the game.
We will then go over the basic rules and procedures for the game to
insure the safety of the students.
During the games if there are areas for correction we will have the
students freeze where they are and reemphasize the rules and if correct anything
that needs to be corrected or explained.
At the end of class we will get the students to line up in their class
lines and talk about what we learned in class. This lesson is formatted for a large
group. The format of the lesson is
to work on the student’s strategy skills and throwing and catching
skills.
Guided Practice:
I will be walking around making sure the students are following the rules and
directions given at the beginning of
class.
Independent Practice:
Have the students assess themselves on the proper mechanics of throwing and catching
so that they can better themselves
Closing:
When the students are in their lines we will recap what we learned in class today by
asking them questions over the rules and objectives that were taught in this
lesson.
Assessment:
I will assess the students by asking questions and having them give examples of
what we learned in class today.
Adaptation to Plan:
If there are any students in the class that have special needs we will make sure
the game is suitable for them to play.
In this game if need be we will make sure the students that have special
needs are getting to play and throw the balls by helping them out and getting
some balls for them to throw so they don’t feel left
out.
